Both solid and engineered hardwoods add character to any home. Solid hardwood flooring is considered the highest quality, but engineered hardwood allows for the look of natural hardwood in more locations around the home. Large manufacturers like Bruce or Anderson carry both types, and many focus on one or the other. Regardless of which manufacturer you choose, engineered hardwood includes a combination of natural wood and nine-ply birch to make a 100-percent wood board that won’t expand, warp, or contract when exposed to heat or cold around the home.
